Summary

We are looking for an experienced Vice President of Data Engineering to lead across the Instagram and Threads apps - two of the most influential and relevant consumer apps in the world. In this role, you will work closely with leads across Data Science, Product Management, Software Engineering, and User Research to build the vital data infrastructure and visualizations that enable the organization to identify and build products that impact the everyday experience of billions of people. Required Skills

VP Data Engineering, Instagram & Threads Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement the vision for a trusted data analytics platform supporting product development across the Threads and Instagram networks.
  • Manage and grow a high performing data engineering team of roughly 200+ full-time employees.
  • Establish the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in data fidelity, data privacy, system reliability, and enabling rapid experimentation and data-informed decisions.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams of Data Scientists, Software Engineers, Product Managers, Researchers, and other partner groups to understand their data needs and deliver on them.
  • Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines in production.
  • Define and manage SLA's for all data sets and processes running in production.
  • Drive data quality across the product vertical and related business areas.
  • Manage the delivery of high-impact dashboards, data sets, and data visualizations.
  • Contribute to improving data engineering competency across Meta.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in Analytics, BI, or Data Warehousing.
  • Experience scaling and managing 100+ (FTE) person teams and managing managers.
  • Experience working collaboratively with Engineering, Product Management, and Data Science/Product Analytics.
  • Experience initiating and driving large scale strategic initiatives.
  • Experience managing and communicating data warehouse plans to internal clients.
  • Experience implementing data governance plans.
  • Experience in SQL or similar languages.
  • Development experience in at least one object-oriented language (Python, Java, C, C++ etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Data architecture experience.
  • Experience implementing privacy aware data foundations and solutions.
  • Experience in a consumer web or mobile company.
