Job Description
A public elementary school in North Charleston, SC, is seeking a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming school year. This contract position is ideal for an educator passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs in an inclusive classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each students unique needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to provide comprehensive support
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Utilize specialized teaching techniques and assistive technology
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with state regulations
- Participate in professional development and team meetings
Qualifications:
- South Carolina Teaching License (pending or active) with endorsement or certification in Special Education
- Ability to complete credentialing requirements, including TB Test, Drug Screen, National Sex Offender Search, and Fingerprints
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, procedures, and best practices
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
