Seeking a passionate sign language interpreter to join our virtual education team, providing essential communication support for deaf and hard of hearing students in remote learning environments. This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on student academic success through expert interpretation services.

About This Role

As a virtual sign language interpreter, you'll support students across various grade levels in their educational journey, ensuring they have complete access to curriculum content through professional interpretation services. You'll work with state-of-the-art virtual platforms designed specifically for educational interpretation, maintaining the highest standards of communication accessibility.

Schedule : 35-37.5 hours per week Student Support : 17-27 students across diverse virtual classrooms Grade Coverage : Pre-K through 12th grade Technology : Advanced virtual interpretation platforms with secure educational access

Primary Responsibilities

• Execute precise real-time interpretation between English and American Sign Language during virtual classes
• Support student comprehension and active participation in online educational activities
• Customize interpretation approach based on student developmental stages and academic content
• Collaborate effectively with virtual classroom teachers to enhance learning accessibility
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of interpretation sessions and student engagement
• Participate in virtual IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning processes
• Provide professional feedback regarding student communication needs and progress

Required Qualifications

• EIPA Score : 3.5 minimum certification required
• Educational Background : 2+ years of interpreting experience in school environments
• Virtual Proficiency : Comfortable with online educational platforms and remote communication tools
• Professional Standards : Strong adherence to interpreting ethics and confidentiality protocols
• Adaptability : Flexibility to work with diverse student populations and varying educational content

Preferred Qualifications

• EIPA score of 4.0 or above
• Written EIPA certification
• RID/NIC certification including written examination
• Previous experience with virtual or remote interpretation services
• Background in educational support or familiarity with special education processes
