Job Description

Principal RF System Engineer Job location: Leidos posting for Checkpoint Screening Products in Tewksbury, MA. Overview Leidos has an opening for a Principal Systems Engineer in support of Checkpoint Screening Products in Tewksbury, MA. The ProVision checkpoint product is the world’s leading personnel scanner, used in airports around the world. The successful applicant will be responsible for technical planning, system hardware–software–network design, development and integration, verification and validation, and fielding, including evaluation of alternatives such as cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems. Primary Responsibilities Perform analysis on systems to document all functions and define interfaces for integration, testing and quality assurance. Work with product team to define product requirements and build systems to fulfill customer needs. Develop organized engineering road map for product-related tasks and activities. Coordinate with other engineering leads to ensure alignment, coordination, and integration throughout the product development cycle. Provide solutions based on system requirements and work with the team to address technical issues and updates. Collaborate with senior team members and mentor junior team members through the design process and update procedures. Contribute as a generalist on a team responsible for development and integration of current and future system builds. Define system baselines and versioning; initiate and conduct studies on upgrades; initiate change orders and support testing and lifecycle activities required to sustain the system. Basic Qualifications BS degree in electrical engineering, physics, systems engineering or related discipline with 12–15 years of experience, or MS with 10–13 years of experience; Doctorate in technical domain may be considered. 5+ years of practical experience as a hardware systems design engineer, ideally in the X-Ka RF bands. US person. Experience working and collaborating on multi-disciplinary teams, including leading technical teams and mentoring less experienced scientists. Led or played a key role in designing, building, and testing hardware sensing products from concept to market delivery. Familiarity with spectrum allocation and FCC testing and requirements; understanding of different RF system architectures. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to travel to customer sites as required. Preferred Qualifications Synthetic aperture experience. Basic Linux skills. Additional Information Come break things (in a good way).
