Join our innovative team of educational professionals providing essential sign language interpretation services in virtual learning environments. We're seeking a qualified interpreter to support deaf and hard of hearing students in their academic pursuits through remote instruction.
Role Overview
This virtual interpreting position involves working with students across multiple grade levels, ensuring they have full access to educational content through expert sign language interpretation. You'll be instrumental in creating an inclusive learning environment that promotes student success and engagement.
Schedule : 35-37.5 hours per week Caseload : 22-32 students across various virtual classrooms Grade Levels : K-12 with focus on middle and high school Platform : State-of-the-art virtual interpretation technology
Essential Functions
- Provide comprehensive sign language interpretation during live virtual instruction
- Support student understanding through clear, accurate interpretation of educational content
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure curriculum accessibility and student participation
- Adjust interpretation style to match student developmental levels and subject matter
- Maintain professional communication with educational teams and family members
- Document interpretation sessions and contribute to student progress evaluations
- Participate in virtual educational meetings and IEP conferences
Minimum Requirements
- EIPA Certification : 3.5 score required for consideration
- School-Based Experience : 2 years minimum in educational interpreting
- Technical Proficiency : Comfortable with virtual platforms and educational software
- Communication Skills : Strong ability to work with diverse educational teams
- Professional Development : Commitment to continuing education in interpreting practices
Preferred Credentials
- EIPA score of 4.0 or higher
- Written EIPA certification
- RID/NIC certification including written examination
- Experience with remote interpretation services
- Knowledge of educational terminology and practices
